Flexing

Activating the body’s muscles to heighten pleasure

Muscles and Sexual Pleasure

You know how, during orgasm, the muscles around the genitals and butthole contract and release in pulses? It’s actually a two-way street: not only can pleasure and orgasm make muscles pulse, women can contract muscles on purpose to make an orgasm start happening. Not only that, but 56% of women use muscle-flexing strategies not for initiating orgasm but to make sexual pleasure more intense.

“What I learned to do is make my orgasms last longer - just by clenching through it and not letting the orgasm squeezes die away right after.”

Variations of Flexing

Jumpstarting an Orgasm

It’s almost as if the body feels the voluntary clenching and thinks, ‘hey, contractions! I know what’s happening! We’re orgasming!’

“It’s a way I push myself over the edge - kind of by starting the orgasm process with those squeezes.”

Extending an Orgasm

24% of women use their muscles to make orgasms last longer! A popular way is to keep the orgasm contractions energetic by voluntarily squeezing along with each one. So just after the orgasm peaks, when there’s a contraction, you add some fuel to it by squeezing even more. Then squeeze again when the next one’s arriving, and so on.

Perspectives

“Some of my orgasms peak and then get less intense really fast. But when I squeeze my ass and stomach, I can make it go on longer.”

Squeezing One Out

This is holding the clench until you can’t anymore. The muscle eventually starts to shake as it grows tired. It’s the I-almost-can’t-keep-doing-this-but-oh-my-god-I’m-trying feeling that gets so pleasurable. Then, just as orgasm passes through the body, you let the muscles go into full relaxation.

“To get a bigger orgasm during sex, I hold my thighs and vagina super tense and I don’t release till I’m coming.”

Isolating Muscles

Some women do these flexing techniques with their thighs, their entire legs, their ab muscles, butthole muscles, or buttocks. And lots of women flex specific muscles in their crotch. At first, crotch muscles can feel like one big unit that all squeezes at once. But with some practice, these individual muscles can be pinpointed and controlled separately:

PC Muscles

The PC muscles are the ones you feel if you’re trying to hold in a big fart, not right at the butthole but deeper inside. You may have seen this actor in hits like, ‘I really have to poop and I’m gonna be on this bus for a long time so need the poop to go up and back where it came from.’ These muscles feel like they’re lower down, toward the butthole. But they also go deep INSIDE along the vaginal canal—and you can intentionally squeeze the inside parts by imagining an elevator moving upward from your entrance to the deepest parts of your vagina.

BC Muscles

The BC muscles are the ones you feel if you’re trying to hold back pee. It’s harder to squeeze these ones and not the PC muscles at the same time but it’s worth learning how. These muscles are behind the labia and are partly responsible for the clitoris getting hard and for orgasm contractions.

Perspectives

“When I cross my ankles and flex my thigh muscles in sequence with the thrusts, that’s how I have clitoral orgasms during sex.”

Helpful guidelines

Map the Muscles
Many have heard about and felt the main ‘kegel’ muscle, but squeeze around, experiment, and see if you can feel the other ones. There’s a whole drum kit of different muscles down there, just waiting to be played!
Try Squeezing Together
When with a partner, try both using these techniques at the same time. And since guys can squeeze for more pleasure in most of the same ways, they can get in on the fun, too.
Partner Bonus
Flexing is also fun because the partner can feel it happening if their finger or penis is inside. It’s another way to ‘communicate’ and feel connected. “Feel that?” “Yeah :)”

Most common challenges

Muscles Get Stronger
If you’ve never flexed a certain muscle before, it’s not going to be very strong at first. That’s OK. Muscles change with a little use. And, hey, we’re not exactly lifting bricks here.
Keep Distractions Away
23% of women who use Flexing say it works because it gives them something to focus on inside the body (instead of thinking about work, to-do lists, etc.) So try keeping your mind on the muscle, really visualizing them squeezing and releasing.
